If your RW405B prints solid black blocks, black lines, or severely distorted images, the electrical contacts between the printer and the print-head assembly may be dirty. Cleaning the pogo-pin contacts can help restore a reliable connection.
Before you start
- Turn the printer off before removing the print-head assembly.
- Prepare an alcohol wipe or a clean, lint-free cloth with a small amount of alcohol.
- Do not spray liquid directly into the printer, and do not reinstall the assembly until all cleaned surfaces are completely dry.
Clean the contact pins
- Turn off the printer and open the cover.
Press and hold the two release points on the print-head assembly, then carefully remove the assembly.
Locate the copper pogo-pin contacts on both the printer and the removed print-head assembly. These are the small spring-loaded pins arranged in rows.
Gently wipe the contact surfaces on both sides with the alcohol wipe or lint-free cloth. Remove visible dust, residue, or buildup without pressing or bending the pins.
Before cleaning: The surface is dirty.
After cleaning: The surface is clean.
- Leave the contacts exposed until they are fully dry.
- Align the print-head assembly with the printer and install it again. Close the cover and press firmly on the connection area.
- Turn on the printer and run a test print.
If the problem continues
If the test print still contains abnormal printouts after cleaning, turn the printer off and check that the print-head assembly is seated correctly. If the issue remains, contact support and include a photo of the test print and the printer model.
Important: Do not remove or clean the print-head assembly while the printer is powered on. Do not use excessive liquid or force when cleaning the pogo pins.
