These black marks are specifically designed to work with the ITP04 thermal printer. When the paper is fed into the printer, the internal sensors use these black marks to determine where to start and stop printing on the paper. In short, they help the printer locate the beginning and end of the paper.

- What happens if I use folded paper without black marks or with fewer black marks?

When the paper is fed into the printer, it will continue to be pulled in until it reaches the halfway point, causing the printing to start from the middle of the paper instead of the beginning. This results in incomplete prints and wasted paper.
